The Cincinnati Bengals enter Week 2 with plenty of momentum after beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 33-27. However, Joe Burrow and Cincinnati now face a Houston Texans defense desperate to respond after a brutal opening-week performance.

Houston surrendered 36 points to Buffalo and struggled to contain Josh Allen throughout the game. The Texans also allowed explosive plays at a high rate, creating plenty of reasons for concern heading into Sunday.

That is exactly why Marcus Spears believes Cincinnati could not have picked a worse time to face Houston. The former NFL player praised Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins before explaining why he expects a completely different Texans defense.

“I have so much respect for Joe Burrow and obviously Tee Higgins and Jamar Chase. This is the worst week in the world to play the Houston Texans. This is maybe the worst time to ever play this defense ever because of what happened to them week one against the Buffalo Bills. They will self-evaluate. I expect them to be much better.”

Spears expects Houston to make major adjustments after its embarrassing Week 1 showing. That could create serious problems for Cincinnati, especially with Burrow also dealing with back tightness.

The Bengals quarterback remained limited during parts of the week, although he insisted he would play. Cincinnati will need Burrow healthy and sharp if the Texans bring the response Spears expects.

Mina Kimes Echoes Marcus Spears’ Warning to Joe Burrow and the Bengals

Mina Kimes offered a similar warning while discussing Burrow’s upcoming matchup. She said she trusts Burrow to assess his own health, but his limited practice participation becomes concerning against this particular opponent.

Kimes also highlighted Houston’s four-man rush and believes it could put significant pressure on Cincinnati. She stressed that the burden does not fall solely on Burrow, with the entire offensive infrastructure needing to protect him.

That makes Sunday a major test for the Bengals. Houston has plenty to prove after Week 1, and Cincinnati cannot expect the same defensive performance the Bills received.
