Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is incredibly excited about his team for the upcoming season. Last year, the Bengals had a tough season, finishing with a 6-11 record. Thus, the team's front office worked hard to get new talent this offseason.

Jake Liscow and James Rapien recently sat down on an episode of the Locked On Bengals podcast to discuss Burrow's presser comments during a press conference this Wednesday.

"We brought in, like I said, great people and great players, and you can feel the vibes of the locker room. The energy is elevated right now. We have everything we need in that locker room. We've just got to go and make it happen." Burrow said, according to Fox Sports.

He noted that the energy and good vibes in the locker room are higher than ever.

The Bengals have missed the playoffs for three straight years. A reason for this slump was a weak defense, along with a painful toe injury that forced Burrow to miss nine games.

However, Burrow, as well as NFL expert Jake Liscow, believes this new squad is actually better than the 2021 team that reached the Super Bowl. 

The team's roster manager, Duke Tobin, spoke with Burrow frequently while making major roster moves to upgrade the team. 

To fix the defense, the Bengals made some expensive signings. Their biggest move was a trade with the New York Giants. Cincinnati traded away its number ten draft pick to get Dexter Lawrence II, a superstar defensive tackle, and gave him a fresh $28 million contract. 

They also spent big money in free agency, signing pass-rusher Boye Mafe for $60 million and safety Bryan Cook for $40 million, as per ESPN. 

All of these new stars are already showing up to practice early with the team. The Bengals are betting a lot of money that this rebuilt defense, mixed with their talented young linebackers, will fix their past mistakes. 

Reports Indicate No Contract Discussion For Joe Burrow

The Cincinnati Bengals spent this offseason heavily to upgrade their roster. Because they spent so much, many expected them to change the contracts of stars like Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, or Tee Higgins.

Since Cincinnati still has many gaps to fill at linebacker and cornerback, adjusting Burrow’s massive contract seemed like a logical next step.

Recent reporting from SB Nation suggests the Bengals have not discussed restructuring Joe Burrow’s contract for the 2026 season.

Team officials had earlier suggested they could adjust their usual approach to create more financial flexibility, but no such move appears to be happening right now.

At this stage of the offseason, Cincinnati’s roster also looks largely finalized, with the team not expected to make any major outside additions before the season starts.

Burrow has previously indicated, via Fox Sports, that he would likely be open to a restructure if it helped the Bengals land a major player, but there does not appear to be an immediate need for it at the moment.
