The Bengals scored 35 unanswered points after the Baltimore Ravens took an early lead in their Week 7 matchup. Cincinnati's second-half surge showed why they want to keep attacking, even with a lead.
Joe Burrow explained that approach after a reporter asked whether Cincinnati’s decision to keep pushing on a third-quarter drive reflected the team's identity.
Burrow responded:
“Yes, I think that's who we have to be. We have too many great players on offense to be conservative in that spot, and credit to our coaching staff for letting us go and do it and giving us the freedom to go and make those plays. But I think that's who we have to be.”
The quarterback credited the coaching staff for trusting the offense instead of taking its foot off the gas. His answer made clear that Cincinnati’s talent should shape its approach when it has a chance to put a game away.
Bengals deliver a statement performance on offense in Week 7
Cincinnati’s turnaround was emphatic. After managing only 59 yards and no points in the first half, the Bengals scored on five straight second-half drives. Joe Burrow completed 16 of 18 passes for 249 yards and had four touchdowns after halftime.
He finished with 292 passing yards and four touchdowns, while Tee Higgins caught six passes for 148 yards and a score. The performance helped Cincinnati improve to 4-2 and demonstrated the offense’s potential when it finds its rhythm.
The second-half display gave the Bengals a strong platform to build on heading into Week 8.
