Aaron Rodgers is set to lead the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2026. But with training camp approaching, Pittsburgh still has a question to answer at left tackle. The uncertainty has sparked a conversation about adding a veteran to protect the team's starting QB.

However, in a recent Bleacher Report article, NFL analyst Moe Moton has suggested former Detroit Lions left tackle Taylor Decker as a potential option for the Steelers.

"The Pittsburgh Steelers have a question mark at left tackle. At that position, Broderick Jones has struggled in pass protection, and the team doesn't have a timetable for his full return from a neck injury," Moton wrote on June 29. "With Decker in the fold, the Steelers can adopt a measured approach to addressing their tackle spots. Jones could take his time in recovery."

According to Moton's Bleacher Report article, Decker had initially considered retirement. However, he eventually decided to continue his pro career on account of his talent as a starting offensive tackle.

The ex-Lions OT has spent a decade in the NFL and has remained one of the league's most dependable tackles. He has missed only eight games since 2021. He also bounced back with a strong 2025 season, allowing just two sacks, according to Gridiron Heroics.

According to Spotrac, Decker's projected market value is two years, $42.6 million. Even so, Pittsburgh may view that investment differently with Rodgers expected to play his final NFL season.

Currently, the Steelers' options include Broderick Jones, who continues to recover from a neck injury, as well as Troy Fautanu and rookie first-round pick Max Iheanachor.

"Fautanu would move back to right tackle. The coaching staff could bring rookie first-rounder Max Iheanachor along gradually as a swing player at the position," Moton added.

The Steelers still have time to evaluate their current group once the training camp begins under head coach Mike McCarthy.

Can Aaron Rodgers take the Steelers one step further?

The Steelers brought Aaron Rodgers back on a one-year deal in May. According to NBC News, the contract is worth up to $25 million.

The deal keeps Rodgers in Pittsburgh for his 22nd NFL season and reunites him with head coach Mike McCarthy, who guided him for 13 seasons in Green Bay.

"He's extremely focused and locked in. He's such a competitive player, but he has so much fun playing the game. And that's what I really enjoy about Aaron," Steelers quarterbacks coach Tom Arth told Steelers reporter Teresa Varley in May.

Rodgers helped the Steelers win the AFC North and return to the playoffs last season, throwing for 3,322 yards and 24 touchdowns.

As Pittsburgh prepares for another year with Rodgers under center, the team will look to build on that momentum while leaning on the experience he brings to the offense.
