Catching passes from a legendary quarterback comes with a completely different level of pressure, and Pittsburgh Steelers rookie wide receiver Germie Bernard, who has signed a $10 million contract with the team, including a $4 million signing bonus, is already learning that firsthand.

Bernard recently joined former NFL defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins on the Big Time Talks podcast on July 19 to share what it is truly like sharing the field with the four-time NFL MVP. 

“This is his last year. He’s finna tear it up for his last year,” Bernard sent a strong message.

Bernard is confident that Rodgers will make the most of his final season and deliver a dominant campaign. The veteran quarterback said he will retire at the end of the 2026 NFL season after signing a new one-year, $13.65 million contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“He’s elite, bro," added Bernard. "Being around him, bro, you really gotta lock in with everything. But he’s also gonna help you get better. He’s gonna teach you everything. He's gonna help you be on the same wavelength he is.” 

Germie Bernard on the Big Time Talks podcast made it clear that the veteran quarterback demands absolute perfection from his targets, but he also acts as a valuable teacher on the field.

Even at 42 years old, Rodgers' mind remains unmatched. His ability to read opposing defenses, call audibles, and make adjustments before the ball is even snapped keeps him among the best to ever play the game. 

According to Bernard, even though Rodgers may not have the same physical arm strength he had in his prime, he will give his all on the field, especially considering this will be his last time he will be playing on the field.

Bernard isn't the only player who has noticed this. Other players who have shared the huddle with Rodgers have echoed similar thoughts, noting that every single route, alignment, and minor detail matters when you are playing alongside a future Hall of Famer. 

Darnell Washington also gets candid about his experience with Aaron Rodgers

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Darnell Washington recently shared what it is like to play with the veteran quarterback, Rodgers. Washington shared on the June 17 episode of Cam Heyward's Not Just Football podcast that Rodgers expects perfection and even holds private meetings with players to go over signals.

"You've got to make sure you're paying attention," Washington said. "He for sure is gonna quiz you."

Former wide receiver Adam Thielen, too, noted on the Good Morning Football podcast that Rodgers treats every practice like the Super Bowl. He praised the quarterback's intense dedication and constant communication.

At 42 years old, Rodgers is entering his 22nd NFL season. During a recent minicamp practice, Rodgers thrilled his teammates by throwing a beautiful 70-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Roman Wilson.

Washington had a front-row seat for the impressive throw and came away amazed by the veteran's skills. He confirmed that the star quarterback has not lost a step and can still throw the football as well as anyone in the league.
