Joe Burrow is putting together an exceptional season for the Cincinnati Bengals. Through seven appearances, the quarterback has thrown for 2,115 yards, 20 touchdowns, and six interceptions, completing an impressive 73% of his passes. His performances have even placed him firmly in the MVP conversation.
With Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins providing an outstanding receiving combination, alongside a productive tight end group, Burrow has plenty of offensive weapons. However, regular-season dominance doesn't always translate into postseason success.
That's precisely the concern former NFL quarterback Donovan McNabb raised during his appearance on Up & Adams with Kay Adams.
McNabb acknowledged Burrow's exceptional offensive ability and praised the talent surrounding him. However, he highlighted how quarterback evaluations ultimately come down to two things: winning games and delivering in the playoffs.
While he has no doubts about Burrow's talent, McNabb wants to see how the Bengals quarterback performs when the postseason pressure arrives.
"I just want to see what this looks like toward the end of the year, you know, and, and going into the playoffs, if they now make it to the playoffs."
McNabb's comments aren't necessarily a criticism of Burrow. Instead, they reflect the expectations surrounding a quarterback widely considered among the NFL's elite.
Joe Burrow Closing In on Bengals' All-Time Touchdown Record
Joe Burrow and his incredible start have also put him on course for franchise history. He currently leads the NFL with 20 touchdown passes and is projected to finish with 49 this season.
That would put him within reach of Andy Dalton's franchise record of 204 career touchdown passes. Burrow currently has 172.
With the Bengals chasing another postseason appearance, Burrow has an opportunity to silence any remaining doubts about his championship credentials.
