Joe Burrow's reputation as one of the NFL's top quarterbacks extends beyond analysts and fans, as it also comes from the defenders who face him twice a year.

Baltimore Ravens' star safety Kyle Hamilton had an interview with Evan Washburn on CBS Sports. He gave a completely honest breakdown of what makes Joe Burrow such a nightmare to defend when asked about QBs who are tough to read.

"Joe Burrow. When he gets going, he's tough, Kyle Hamilton answered Evan Washburn on CBS Sports. "He just puts it in the right spot."

Joe Burrow is currently the all-time NFL leader in career completion percentage (minimum 500 attempts), holding a career mark of 68.4% as per @NFLonCBS on X.

Hamilton further explained that NFL QBs figure out defensive coverages either pre-snap or a split-second after the snap is completed.

Because they process things so fast, he highlighted that defenders must be completely disciplined in their execution. Especially in Burrow's case, having so many weapons at his disposal makes it even more difficult.

"But Joe, we've seen him twice a year, so we kind of got used to it, Hamilton told Evan Washburn of CBS Sports on YouTube's @NFLonCBS channel. "But he's got a lot of weapons around him, too, and it makes it kind of tough."

The numbers back up this deep respect. Even though Baltimore holds a 7-4 head-to-head record against Joe Burrow across 11 career matchups, he still puts up huge numbers.

Burrow has thrown for 3,185 passing yards and 23 touchdowns while completing 65% of his passes against them.

In the upcoming season, Joe Burrow will be up against a revamped Ravens coaching staff and defense.

Jesse Minter's Defensive Overhaul: Can New Scheme Contain Joe Burrow?

Stopping Burrow will be the ultimate test for Baltimore's brand-new coaching staff in 2026.

The franchise hired former Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter as head coach and brought back Anthony Weaver as defensive coordinator.

Minter will personally handle the defensive play-calling duties on game days this upcoming season.

Minter takes over a defensive unit that underperformed last year under DC Zach Orr, giving up 354.5 yards per game. This ranks them 24th in the league, having allowed 6,027 yds as per Statmuse.

Hamilton's emphasis on discipline becomes especially important as Baltimore reshapes its defense under Jesse Minter.

When you face offensive weapons like wide receivers Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins with Burrow under centre supplying them, your secondary must stay focused.

Chase alone has recorded 699 receiving yards against the Ravens in his last four appearances. The Ravens have invested in defensive acquisitions as well.

This includes the likes of Trey Hendrickson, a former Bengals Defensive End, veteran pass rusher Calais Campbell, and Jaylinn Hawkins, who ranked fourth among safeties with four interceptions in 2025, as per Michael Hull writing for Bengals.com.

Hamilton's praise highlights the respect Burrow commands across the AFC North and the challenge Baltimore's revamped defense will face in trying to slow him down this season.
