Once again, Cincinnati’s defense came to the rescue. The Bengals held Houston to just six points and zero touchdowns, while limiting the Texans to only 60 rushing yards.

Following the game, Chase made it clear that he knows exactly what has carried Cincinnati through its opening two weeks. The star receiver believes the defense has become the team’s foundation.

“Man, I can't even describe how much I love our defense right now. I said this on my podcast the other day. They're our backbone. Imma repeat that until we figure it out.”

Chase’s comments highlight a fascinating dynamic developing in Cincinnati. The offense has enough talent to win games, but the defense has consistently given the Bengals the margin they need.

That could prove crucial as Burrow and the offense continue working through their early-season issues. Cincinnati has already shown it can win while waiting for the offense to find its best form.
