Joe Burrow is already dealing with another injury concern after the Cincinnati Bengals’ opening-week victory. The quarterback has been listed with back tightness ahead of Cincinnati’s Week 2 matchup, creating concern around his availability.
However, Emmanuel Acho offered a particularly blunt assessment of the situation on Speakeasy. While praising Burrow’s immense talent, Acho questioned why the quarterback is already dealing with another issue so early in the season.
“Of course, he's hurt. It's what Joe Burrow does. Specializes in being hurt. He's a killer on the field. One of the most talented quarterbacks in all of football. Top three quarterback, just as far as like talent, execution, clutch gene, and all the football. But of course, he's hurt.”
Acho then questioned whether Burrow should be playing through the issue if surgery is even being mentioned. He also highlighted the timing, given that Burrow’s back tightness comes after an uneven Week 1 performance.
“Wildly disappointing. We're dealing with back tightness already. Bruh, it's not like you balled out that crazy week one. Let the defense's back be tight. If anybody's back should be tight, let it be them, not you.”
The comments add another layer to the scrutiny surrounding Burrow’s latest injury. Cincinnati cannot afford to have its franchise quarterback miss significant time, especially with the season already underway.
Despite Back Tightness, Joe Burrow Will Play in Week 2
Fortunately for the Bengals, Burrow is expected to take the field against the Houston Texans. The back tightness has not prevented him from preparing for Cincinnati’s second game of the season.
That gives Burrow an immediate opportunity to put the Week 1 concerns behind him. The Bengals will also hope their quarterback can establish a stronger connection with Ja’Marr Chase after the receiver had only two catches in the opener.
For Cincinnati, the priority is getting Burrow through the game healthy while improving offensively. Week 2 should provide an early indication of how the Bengals respond to their difficult opening-week developments.
