The AFC North is shaking up fast. First, the Cleveland Browns shocked everyone by trading superstar Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams. Now, a massive new rumor says Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson could be traded next.
As per NFL analyst Jason La Canfora from SportsBoom, the Eagles are looking to replace their QB Jalen Hurts. And if the contract extension talks between Jackson and the Ravens go sideways, there is a potential trade chance.
“It’s led to a strong sense around the league that, as difficult as it can be to find a calibre of quarterback who can win big in the postseason, the Eagles will be willing to do whatever is possible if need be,” La Canfora wrote on June 16. “There is a chance that a two-time MVP like Lamar Jackson becomes available in trade, and the 2027 quarterback draft class is earning strong early reviews, too.”
This big rumor comes days after former Steelers star Ben Roethlisberger warned everyone on his Footbahlin podcast about Baltimore's future. The Ravens missed the playoffs last year after undergoing massive changes, including firing longtime head coach John Harbaugh.

Because of this, Roethlisberger believes Baltimore's chance to win a Super Bowl is officially over.
“I think they’re falling apart. I don’t think they’re the same team… They feel like their window closed,” Roethlisberger said. “To me, losing Harbaugh, King Henry’s a year older... what was going on with Lamar last year? He just didn’t seem like the Lamar that we’ve been used to seeing.”
Some NFL executives believe Jackson could look elsewhere if a blockbuster deal isn't reached before his current contract expires. And the Eagles, as per Canfora, might be the ones.

What is causing talk of Lamar Jackson’s trade?
Lamar Jackson trade rumors are heating up, and it all comes down to three things: money, contract drama, and big changes with the team.
The biggest issue is the money, as per reports from the NFL. Jackson is signed with the Ravens until 2027. However, the team recently shifted his contract around to save cash right now. They restructured his contract, reducing his current cap figure from $74.5M to $34.54M. However, his cost will skyrocket to $84.49M in 2027.
Baltimore wants to sign Jackson to a new, longer deal to lower that huge number. But right now, contract talks are moving incredibly slowly. Some NFL insiders think Jackson might eventually ask for a trade if they can't agree on a deal soon.
On top of that, the team is going through a lot of changes. The Ravens recently let go of their long-time head coach, John Harbaugh. Jackson insists he loves Baltimore and wants to stay. He even has a special clause in his contract that lets him block any trade he doesn't like.
Still, the combination of a massive contract restructuring and a changing team means the trade rumors aren't going away anytime soon.
