Chase Brown Addresses Bengals' Run Game Amid Jonathan Taylor Trade Rumors

The Cincinnati Bengals have enjoyed considerable success through the air this season. However, their running game has struggled to provide the same level of production, raising questions about the backfield.

That is particularly disappointing considering the expectations surrounding Chase Brown entering the campaign. After recording 1,019 rushing yards last season, the fourth-year running back was expected to become an even bigger part of Cincinnati's offense.

Through seven games, Brown has managed 340 rushing yards on 94 carries, averaging just 3.6 yards per attempt. He has also scored only one rushing touchdown, leaving plenty of room for improvement.

Consequently, the Bengals have been linked with a potential move for Indianapolis Colts star Jonathan Taylor. Cincinnati was among the teams reportedly checking on his availability, although Indianapolis' asking price could complicate negotiations.

However, Brown doesn't appear particularly concerned about the outside noise. Speaking about Cincinnati's rushing attack, he insisted that the unit remains in a decent position despite its inconsistent production.

“I think we're doing well. I think last week we popped up a couple runs, and that's something to be confident about. But I mean, we throw the football a lot, and we're winning games. So that's the most important thing, but I think we're in a fine spot.”

Brown believes the recent improvement provides reason for optimism. With Joe Burrow leading an explosive passing offense, Cincinnati may not need to dominate on the ground. Nevertheless, a more consistent rushing attack could make the Bengals considerably more dangerous.

Bengals Could Explore Tony Pollard and Breece Hall as Jonathan Taylor Alternatives

Taylor isn't the only running back connected to Cincinnati. Reports have identified Tennessee Titans veteran Tony Pollard and New York Jets star Breece Hall as potential alternatives.

Both could offer the Bengals additional firepower without necessarily requiring the compensation Indianapolis reportedly wants for Taylor. Whether Cincinnati pursues either option remains to be seen.
