The Cincinnati Bengals rely on Joe Burrow to keep their offense moving. His poise and quick decisions remain central to their hopes of making a deeper run this season.
After spending three hours studying Joe Burrow’s tape, three-time Super Bowl winner and FOX analyst Mark Schlereth shared his findings on The OG Football Show.
He praised the Bengals’ QB1 for his toughness and ability to operate under pressure, drawing a comparison to the great Tom Brady:
“He’s [Burrow] so Brady-esque, in that, he’s the best scrambler in football that never leaves the pocket.”
Schlereth explained that Burrow moves toward the line of scrimmage instead of retreating when pressure arrives. As he put it, “He’s always working toward the line of scrimmage, even if it means he’s gonna take one in the teeth.”
He said the quarterback takes openings immediately and can eliminate one side of the field based on his movement key. He also noted that Burrow’s time to throw currently stood at 2.54 seconds, despite Cincinnati running more than quick passes.
Schlereth’s conclusion was unequivocal:
“He’s just the best quarterback in football without question.”
Bengals' QB1 shines as Cincinnati secures Week 5 victory over Dolphins
Joe Burrow backed up that praise in Cincinnati’s 31-24 Week 5 win over Miami. The Bengals’ QB1 completed 23 of 32 passes for 190 yards, throwing four touchdowns without an interception.
Burrow connected with four different receivers for scores, helping Cincinnati build a 28-10 lead before Miami mounted a late rally. He also added 10 rushing yards on four carries.
The victory lifted the Bengals to 3-2 and sent them into their bye week on a winning note.
