The Cincinnati Bengals recently signed a new cornerback for their defense. The undrafted Ceyair Wright signed a three-year UDFA contract worth $3.1 million. As the team gets ready for summer practices, he is now starting to stand out.
Gary Davenport from Bleacher Report named Wright the most exciting undrafted rookie on the Bengals roster.
"Now, Ceyair Wright isn't going to challenge for a starting spot in the Queen City. There's a reason why he wasn't drafted—his speed and agility are average at best. But the 6'0", 185-pounder started 32 games over five seasons at USC and Nebraska, and he has good technique and isn't afraid to get dirty in run support," Davenport wrote

Wright has great size for a cornerback. Unlike some pass-defenders, Wright is highly aggressive and loves to step up to help stop the opponent's running game.
Since the Bengals did not add many new players to their slot cornerback position this offseason, a Bengals Wire report suggested that they really need dependable depth.
Wright's ability to play multiple positions and his physical style of play give him a great chance to surprise people and earn a spot on the final 53-man roster.
The Bengals Might Have A Steal With Ceyair Wright
The Cincinnati Bengals heavily reinforced their defensive line this offseason. This was done to upgrade a struggling unit. Joe Burrow feels confident about the roster. However, reports indicate that depth concerns still linger at linebacker and in the secondary.
Starting cornerbacks Dax Hill and DJ Turner II are both playing on expiring contracts. This is why Cincinnati desperately needs to cultivate young talent for the future.
Even with the possibility of one or both starters returning next season, bringing in the cornerback gives the team another option in the secondary. Wright has experience lining up both on the outside and in the slot, giving him flexibility to move between roles depending on the situation.
Furthermore, Wright’s willingness to come down and defend the run makes him a crucial asset, especially in the physical AFC North.
Across five college seasons, he has played in 49 games, recording 109 tackles (72 solo), three tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, three interceptions, one pass deflection, and one forced fumble, as per Pro Football Reference.
Wright could be the missing piece for a Bengals defense in need of reliable secondary depth.
