Bengals’ $115M WR goes viral after hilarious Dexter Lawrence tribute at Savannah Bananas game

Tee Higgins & Dexter Lawrence

The crowd at Great American Ball Park got more than just baseball action on June 19. Fans watched Cincinnati Bengals' $115M wide receiver Tee Higgins step into the Savannah Bananas’ matchup against the Indianapolis Clowns.

After scoring a run, he paid tribute to new Bengals teammate Dexter Lawrence by bringing out Lawrence's well-known “S*** Dexy” celebration, drawing big reactions from fans.

According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, fans stood up and cheered loudly for the Bengals WR, with chants of “Teeeeeee!” echoing around the stadium as he made his way around the bases.

Higgins came in as a pinch runner, and the reaction from the crowd was instant. He was not alone in busting out the iconic Lawrence celebratory move. Savannah Bananas teammates also joined him, making the moment even more entertaining for fans.

The game was part of the Savannah Bananas' Banana Ball Tour stop in Cincinnati. Over the past weekend, Higgins attended the baseball game as a guest pinch runner.

He also hosted his annual celebrity basketball game in May at his alma mater, Oak Ridge High School in Tennessee.

The Bananas' games have seen a few other familiar football connections over the years.

Former Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton and Reds legend Sean Casey have both taken part in past events, adding to the cross-feel these exhibitions have built over time.

Meanwhile, Dexter Lawrence proves that being an elite player is all about consistency and the daily grind.

Dexter Lawrence sets tone before Bengals camp

Dexter Lawrence is making it clear that the break after the Bengals' offseason program isn't really a break for him. The veteran defensive lineman is staying in work mode as he settles into Cincinnati following his offseason trade.

“Obviously a big adjustment, moving to a new city and all that,” Lawrence said on Cincinnati Bengals Talk on June 17. “But guys welcomed me in, introduced me to the right people, made it really good.”

According to Si.com, even with OTAs and minicamp wrapped up, Lawrence's routine hasn't changed much.

“Be like a boxer,” Lawrence said. “Before they go into their fight, you got to put your head down and train. That’s what it’s about.”

For Lawrence, that mindset is nothing new. He explained that he's followed a similar routine since entering the league, using the final stretch of the offseason to stay focused and prepared.

Beyond his own preparation, Lawrence is also beginning to settle into a leadership role within Cincinnati's defense.

“It’s part of my role to allow people to understand my knowledge of the game and to grow in that sense,” Lawrence added. “I think it just happens naturally.”

Training camp for the Bengals begins on July 29, and Lawrence's message has already set the tone for how he expects the group to approach the season ahead.
