Andrew Whitworth Says Bengals Are Finally "All In" on Joe Burrow

The Cincinnati Bengals have not reached the playoffs during their last three seasons. Andrew Whitworth, a former All-Pro lineman, believes this offseason presents a different situation

The Bengals now show genuine dedication to winning through their actions with quarterback Joe Burrow. Whitworth made this point during his appearance on The NFL on ESPN Show, linking the Bengals' acquisition of defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence.

"If the draft picks work out. To me, this is the first time in their history trading a top 10 pick like this. They are all in on Joe Burrow and Zac Taylor in this era of Cincinnati football, and we want to take that next step to be one of those elites year in and year out," Whitworth said.

The Bengals traded a top-10 pick to get Lawrence. Urgency, not patience. Burrow is under contract through 2029 on a five-year, $275 million extension, and with three straight seasons without a playoff appearance, the front office decided now was the time to act.

Burrow threw for 2,309 yards and 15 touchdowns in 10 games before a wrist injury ended his 2023 campaign. When healthy, he’s been one of the most consistent top quarterbacks in the NFL, and it’s hard to argue against going all-in around him.

Lawrence wins one-on-one matchups, beats double teams, and creates interior pressure that a defense lacks.

Already armed with Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, and Tee Higgins, Cincinnati could return to AFC contention with even a small defensive improvement.

And Burrow is not waiting for the season to start; he’s already putting in the work.

Joe Burrow trains with Jordan Palmer ahead of the Bengals' season

The quarterback who was supposed to put years of misery behind them, Carson Palmer, became Public Enemy No. 1 when he demanded a trade.

Fans burned their jerseys, and the team almost fell apart. "Palmer still carries huge resonance with the Bengals today.

So it’s a little ironic that Burrow has thrown some offseason passes with Carson’s younger brother. Jordan Palmer has been working with Burrow again this spring, and the sessions have featured Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood.

The workouts were announced to Bengals fans on social media earlier this month.

This isn't the first time the duo has worked together. They last played in 2021, when Burrow led the Bengals to the Super Bowl. And Palmer's added sharpness could be the difference that sends Burrow and the Bengals back to February football.
